The 6^th Annual Conference of Indian Society of Thyroid Surgeons was held in Kolkata. ISTS was founded in 2018 at Nagpur with Dr. Madan Kapre as its Founding President. In this year’s Dr. Kapre was faculty for Pre-Conference Cadaveric Dissection Workshop where he demonstrated Thyroid Surgery and Neck Dissection Surgery.

Dr. Madan Kapre represented as Governing Council Chairman in this conference. He was the chief faculty for the cadaver demonstration at SSKM medical college. This was attended by more than 200 delegates and PG students. Dr. Madan Kapre was also chairperson for the prestigious ISTS oration. His talk on tips and tricks for preserving RLN and parathyroids was widely appreciated by one and all in the audience, many of whom admitted that they frequently refer to Kapre sir’s Atlas of Thyroid Surgery to guide them in daily practice.

Dr. Neeti Kapre Gupta was also faculty in the conference. She presented a video on “Cervical epidural anaesthesia in thyroid surgery”, a unique technique pioneered by Dr. Vidula Kapre at the Annual Thyroid Surgical Workshop in Chikhaldara. This was very well received by the attendees. She was also a panelist on “Management of indeterminate thyroid nodules and low-risk thyroid cancers”. The Indian Thyroid Cancer Guidelines where Dr. Neeti was a main contributor was also widely discussed and appreciated at the conference.
